1. Is the Vlx a new vehicle or a variant built on the original Scorpio platform?
  The Vlx is a part of the Scorpio V Series. This is the new range of technologically superior Scorpios powered by the new mHawk 2.2L engine, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and a whole host of electronic features.
   
2. What are the differences between the Scorpio CRDe (2.6) and the Vlx (2.2)?
  The Scorpio V Series is powered by the raw power of the spanking new mHawk engine and possesses a host of new technology and comfort innovations that make sure you don’t just zoom across the landscape, you fly!
   
 
  1. Unbridled power. Go from 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds flat, touch 150 kmph with ease. Discover effortless acceleration with 120 bhp of power and a flat torque of 290 Nm (1800 ~ 2800 rpm). The mHawk generates tremendous torque even at low speeds. A decrease in gross weight, coupled with a reduction in base engine friction ensures that parasitic losses of power are seriously lowered and acceleration gets even better.
  2. Cool performance. The functional sporty bonnet scoop provides a direct passage for air to rush into the mHawk’s new top-mounted intercooler. The intercooler in turn directs this air into passages to optimise engine cooling.
  3. Great mileage. The mHawk keeps a tight leash on how diesel gets burnt. The 2nd generation Bosch Common Rail System with solenoid injectors intelligently manages fuel supply to the engine. The 4-valves per cylinder fuel spray design ensures that fuel burns better, generating more power from the same amount of fuel. Fuel economy gets even better and the emissions are considerably lower.
  4. Unexpectedly quiet. The mHawk’s innovative two-stage chain drive system and hydraulic lash adjuster cut down engine noise levels drastically. Even the ignition system had been tweaked to ensure quieter operation, making this monster deceptively quiet.
3. How would you differentiate the Scorpio V Series and the Safari 2.2L Dicor?
  The Scorpio V Series is the technologically superior Scorpio range powered by the new mHawk 2.2L engine. It sports a whole host of electronic features including an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The light weight mHawk engine is in a league of its own as it enables effortless acceleration, generates tremendous torque even at low speeds, is incredibly quiet and offers better fuel economy. This series carries the trademark aggressive Scorpio styling, comfort and sophistication.
   
4. Why is the Scorpio mHawk engine only 120bhp and not 140bhp like the Safari 2.2L?
  The Scorpio's new 120bhp engine provides superior fuel efficiency, ride and handling, lower emissions & lower NVH. Depending on customer needs we will look at further implementation.
   
5. What does mHAWK stand for? What was EAGLE?
  EAGLE was the internal name for the development of the mHawk engine. mHawk encapsulates all that a hawk stands for in terms of power, speed and performance.
   
6. Is there a new transmission/gear box in the mHawk and how is it different?
  The transmission/gear box has an updated housing and a double synchro to provide better shift quality in 1st & 2nd gear.
   
7. What target customer is the Vlx designed for?
  The Scorpio V Series is designed for the discerning customer looking for a technologically advanced and 'fully loaded' vehicle.
   
8. Will the Scorpio 2.6 be phased out? If yes, after how long?
  We intend continuing with the CRDe engine which commands a satisfied, loyal base of customers.
   
9. Will owners have to face a loss in performance due to the smaller capacity engine?
  The mHawk engine offers better power and higher torque as compared to the 2.6L CRDe engine. The light weight mHawk engine, with its all-aluminium cylinder heads is tuned for power. Turbochargers feed concentrated gusts of wind into a Variable Geometry Turbine, a simple yet cunning device that partially closes to trap the air inside at high pressures. This generates tremendous torque even at low speeds. A decrease in gross weight, coupled with a reduction in base engine friction ensures that parasitic losses of power are seriously lowered and acceleration gets even better.
   
10. What is the fuel efficiency of the Vlx?
  The mHawk engine on the Vlx keeps a tight leash on how diesel gets burnt. The 2nd generation Bosch Common Rail System with solenoid injectors intelligently manages fuel supply to the engine. The 4-valves per cylinder fuel spray design ensures that fuel burns better, generating more power from the same amount of fuel. Hence, the mHawk engine has achieved a 10% increase in fuel efficiency.
   
11. Are you offering more features in the Vlx as compared to the 2.6 and also the 2.2 Safari?
  Based on customer feedback we have incorporated various ingenious, unique features in the V Series such as Cruise Control, Tyre-tronics, Intellipark and Rain & Light sensors, some of which are not available in any vehicle in its class.
   
12. What are the safety features that M&M has incorporated in the 2.2 considering that it is a new vehicle?
  2 new safety features have been incorporated in the Vlx: Anti-lock Braking System & an Immobiliser.

The Anti-lock Braking System or ABS will make sure that the wheels don’t lock up on you when you floor the brakes on any skid-prone surface (snow, water, loose gravel, or even oil). The steering control will also remain obedient and the brakes will behave just like they always did.

If anyone tries breaking into the new Scorpio Vlx, the system will get tripped; the immobiliser will lock the engine and then cut off the fuel supply.
   
13. What changes have been incorporated in the Scorpio Vlx as far as handling and comfort are concerned? How different is it from the 2.6-litre version?
  Due to the lighter powertrain, the vehicle suspension has been re-tuned for better, more comfortable ride.
   
14. What is the power to weight ratio of the mHawk?
  The power to weight ratio of the Vlx is 0.41kw/kg.
   
15. What is the weight of the mHawk engine?
  217 kg
   
16. What is the maximum RPM?
  4000 rpm
   
17. How many variants would the Vlx have?
  The Vlx would have 2 variants: 2WD AND 4WD.
   
18. What is the price band of the 2.2 Vlx?

19. Are the new high tech features in the Scorpio V Series covered under warranty?
  Yes.
   
20. Would these features be offered in lower end variants too?
  The bundle of electronic features on the Vlx is not available on any other variant.
   
21. Will the other versions of the Scorpio also receive the 2.2 treatment?
  As far as current plans go, the V Series will be the only product range with the Scorpio mHawk 2.2L engine.

22. Why is the M-Hawk engine so talked about?
  The mHawk engine has been long discussed and awaited by customers as it is more powerful, offers great mileage and is significantly quieter than other engines in its class.
   
23. Is this a CRDe like the 2.6-litre? What is the localisation level in the engine?
  Yes it is a CRDe with 100% localisation.
   
24. Is the M-Hawk imported or an indigenous unit?
  The mHawk is an indigenously developed engine with technology leveraged appropriately.
   
25. Does new technology means lower maintenance for the owner?
  New technology means a better vehicle-human interface and does not necessarily translate into lower (or higher) maintainance..
   
26. Is the new engine Bio Diesel compatible?
  Yes, we are conducting tests to validate the same.
   
27. Will the Scorpios here have technology similar to the Scorpio available to foreign customers?
  Yes, though the product will have to be adapted depending on the prevailing regulations in each overseas market.

28. Is Scorpio Vlx available at all dealerships in India?
  Within 6 to 8 weeks the Scorpio Vlx will be available at all dealerships across India.
   
29. If customers have recently bought the Scorpio 2.6, would you offer them the Scorpio 2.2 in exchange?
  Our dealerships have various exchange offers from time to time which customers can avail of.
   
30. Why would a competitive market like India accept a less powerful Scorpio as compared to the 2.6-litre?
  The 2.2L mHawk is, in fact, a more powerful engine compared to the CRDe with 120bhp and a flat torque of 290Nm. One can go from 0 to 60 in 5.7 seconds flat (compared to 7 seconds with the CRDe) and is capable of touching 150 kmph with ease.
